How To Add HTML Code Or HTML To Your Blogger Blog

Sometimes it might be necessary or easier to add HTML or Java Script to your blogger blog by hand rather than relying on some widget.  While this may sound intimidating, nothing could be easier.  Just watch this youtube video I created and you should be well on your way.

How To Post HD (Widescreen) Youtube Videos To Blogger

The problem when you post HD youtube videos to blogger i.e. blogspot is that they do not fit the alloted space for your posts. The videos are too wide and over extend into into your your right side bar. Not good. There is a really simple solution.  See below:

When you grab the embed code for a HD video (widescreen) video it will look something like this:

<object height="385" width="640"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pZEPZeLpdIU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US">
</param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">
</param>
<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always">
</param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pZEPZeLpdIU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

I've highlighted the problem areas in red.  The dimensions are incorrect to fit into blogger.  The is easy to fix.  All you have to do is change the above values to 416 wide x 337 high. See new code below with the changed code in red:

<object height="337" width="416"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pZEPZeLpdIU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US">
</param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">
</param>
<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always">
</param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pZEPZeLpdIU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="416" height="337"></embed></object>

Alternate FTP Methods

There may be times when you are not able to use your preferred method of FTP.  This is no longer a problem with AnyClient.Com.  It is a clever java web based client that allows you to FTP anywhere you have access to a web browser and an internet connection.  The only restriction is that your web browser has java enabled (which the jast majority of browsers do).

Please check out the below YouTube video produced by me for a more detailed demonstration.  And as always check it out in full screen 720p HD.

Innovative Tools You May Not Have Heard Of

  1. NotePad ++ - While notepad is adequate, Notepad ++ excels (plus it's Free). Notepad is an excellent HTML editor in that it is plain and simple. Sometimes too plain and simple. Notepad ++ adds some really powerful features without crossing the line of being a GUI HTML editor.

    Some of the cool features are: * Opening up files in multiple tabs (great when you have files with similar content to copy and paste). * Drag-and-drop (time saving feature). Highlighting of brackets (way cool...helps you find those missing brackets, parenthesis, etc.) * Line numbers with word wrap. Say you have a huge piece of code (tag) with word wrap on. It will indent the code (tag) on the same line number regardless of how many lines it actually occupies on the notepad. This makes looking for mistakes so much easier.

    Trust me, you will absolutely love NotePad ++.
  2. ColorZilla - I'll be honest with you. I'm really bad with colors. I can't pick a color out of palate and say, "That looks good" or more importantly match two colors together. What I do is find something on the web that looks pretty good, then I use the eyedrop tool on Colorzilla to tell me what the exact color it is. I can't tell you how useful this is. I suppose I could go to the source code and see exactly what the color being used is, but when there are multiple style sheets this can be more difficult than it seems. Plus I like tools to make things more easy. Isn't that why we have computers, software, plug-ins, etc.?
  3. Wordpress - I'm not talking about Wordpress.Com where you create free blogs but Wordpress.Org where you download free open source "blogging" software to where you can have a wordpress.com like interface on your website. (Both sites are owned and operated by the same company).

    In the beginning people used wordpress to create blogs on their domains but people quickly discovered that wordpress was so customizable through plug-ins and themes that not only could you make great looking blogs but you could make superior looking websites. Wordpress is perfect for the super geek because it is open source and can be manipulated in so many ways. It is also perfect for the amateur because you can put up a superior looking website without knowing ANY HTML, php, Java, etc. A relative amateur can make a very professional looking website in a very short period of time using the wordpress platform. Here are some examples of wordpress sites:

    http://www.ferryto.eu/

    http://ma.tt/

    http://www.riptapparel.com/

    http://www.bridinel.com/

    The great thing about wordpress is that you can create and manage your content quickly and efficiently. It is very realistic to be able to create a several thousand page website with relatively little effort or just have a nice clean small personal website as well.

Setting Up Dual Monitors In Windows 7

Here is a youtube tutorial on how to set up dual monitors in Windows 7.  This is strictly a tutorial if you have a video card already installed with the capability such as a laptop with an extra VGA female input or your desktop has two inputs be it VGA, HDMI or DVI.  If you need to actually install a video card this is not the correct turorial.  This is simply how to set up installed monitors.

Wolfram Alpha, The Answer Engine

Check out this short video on how to use WolframAlpha.Com

It certainly isn't a replacement for Google but an enhancement.  Where Google is a search engine, WolframAlfa is an answer engine.

For best viewing, view in full screen mode with 720p in YouTube.
